The Hector Lion’s Fly-In breakfast is coming up on September 20, 2026! Airport construction will start after the event.
Construction for Hector Municipal Airport’s Runway, Lighting and NAVAIDs Construction Project is set to begin in late September. This project will include the total reconstruction of Runway 12/30 and the connecting taxiway along with new runway lighting, NAVAIDs, and a beacon.
For pilots and members of the community using the airport, there may be construction activity from the fall of 2026 though the fall of 2027. The first phase will include the closure of Runway 12/30 for reconstruction, but pilots may use Turf Runway 5/23 which will be open during Phase One of the project. Phase Two will see the closure all runways while the last section of Runway 12/30 that intersects with 5/23 is constructed. Please check published NOTAMs regarding airport operations over the course of the project.

The City of Hector, Contractors, and Bollig Engineering ask that everyone stay clear of construction zones, obey construction signs, and be safe and cautious around construction equipment. We also ask pilots and users of the airport to check NOTAMs for any unexpected closures. If you have questions or concerns about the project, please contact Chris Brouwer, on-site Resident Project Representative (RPR), or Paul Jurek, Senior Engineer at 320-235-2555.
