With a 30,000 foot view, Bollig’s airport planning and design services are customized to meet the needs of rural communities.
The Bollig Engineering Aviation team provides full design and consultation services for aprons, runways, taxiways, fuel systems, landside infrastructure, and more. But what makes us different is that we specialize in working with small cities and specifically small airports. We know how to work creatively with budget constraints and how to overcome common roadblocks. We embrace the challenge, know the route and are ready to take flight with you!
Many of our clients have a good grasp of their airport infrastructure needs, but struggle to understand the ever-changing rules, regulations, and funding opportunities available. Our aviation specialists are familiar with all of the documentation and standard requirements needed for the design and construction of rural airports in Minnesota. Sometimes, to meet your airport’s specific needs, we understand a new approach is required and our team is experienced in finding new solutions.
We work collaboratively with your team to find long-term solutions to benefit your airport and your community. As part of your team, we collaborate with funding sources such as the Minnesota Department of Transportation Office of Aeronautics (MnDOT Aeronautics), Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), local entities, and other sources to make the process easy – from planning to construction. We research and evaluate alternatives and prepare detailed plans to best support airport development while coordinating with FAA and MnDOT Aeronautics for funding priorities.

“Bollig is a great Engineering firm to work with. They have been a great help on our Airport reconstruction and are always willing to help in any way that they can.”
“As a small unit of local government, we count on expert consultants that understand the fast paced and regulatory environment in which we perform… It has truly been a pleasure to work with Bollig and in particular with project engineer, Ms. Angela Holm who has demonstrated expert level awareness for the Minnesota Department of Transportation Aeronautic Division’s, funding mechanisms. Within a very short window of time, Ms. Holm was able to successfully meet with City leadership to strategize capital improvement planning for our municipal airport, reorganize priorities, and submit a grant to the State securing a grant of $127k in less than three months’ time.”
