Descripción general del proyecto/objetivos

Construction for Hector Municipal Airport’s Runway Reconstruction and Visual Aids Project will begin in September 2026. The locations of construction activities associated with the project are shown on the map, and the work to be completed consists of the reconstruction and widening of Runway 12/30, the installation of new airport visual aids, and taxiway construction. Most of this work will occur during the summer of 2027, with final construction extending into the fall of 2027.

Runway 12/30 Reconstruction & Widening

  • The runway will be widened from fifty to seventy-five feet.
  • The north end of the runway (12) will be raised by two feet to keep vehicles or obstacles on State Highway 4 outside the 20:1 approach safety zone of planes.

Airport Visual Aids

  • Removal of nonstandard Low Intensity Runway Lights & installation of standard Medium Intensity Runway Lights.
  • Installation of Precision Approach Path Indicators (PAPIs) & Runway Edge Indicator Lights (REILS).
  • Installation of an airport beacon.

Construcción de calles de rodaje

  • Taxiway A1 will be removed and reconstructed to meet Runway 12 at a 90-degree angle with a FAA standard width of 25 feet.
  • Two new taxiways (A2 & A3) will be constructed at the approach end of Runway 30.

Costos y financiamiento del proyecto

The roughly $4M project is funded by FAA, MnDOT, and the City at 95%, 2.5%, 2.5% split.
