Internships

Internships that Build Opportunities

Build your skills, explore your interests, and contribute to projects that help small communities thrive with an internship at Bollig Engineering.

At Bollig Engineering, an internship is an opportunity to connect what you’re learning in school with what happens on a real project. You’ll support licensed engineers and project teams, spend time in both the office and in the field, and see how infrastructure improvements make a difference for the people who depend on them.

We offer paid engineering internship opportunities based in Willmar, Minnesota; Two Harbors, Minnesota; Fargo, North Dakota; and Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Learn in the Office and in the Field

Designing something on a computer is one thing. Seeing it take shape in a community is another. Civil engineering interns at Bollig have opportunities to experience both. You might help with project documentation, review plans with an engineer, or head to a construction site to see how those plans translate into work in the ground.

The mix of assignments depends on active projects, your location, and when you join us. But the goal is to gain practical experience that helps you understand the work, ask better questions, and discover what interests you.

What you could work on:

  • Engineering and design support: Assist with civil project tasks, plans, and documentation alongside experienced staff.
  • Construction observation: Help document site activities and understand how construction work is checked against project requirements. Work alongside construction services staff, observe work in progress, and see how real-world challenges affect construction.
  • Field measurements and project tracking: Assist with construction staking and records showing what was installed. Help track construction quantities and organize project information.
  • Community project support: Assist with internal coordination and preparation for city council meetings.

Along the way, you may gain exposure to water, wastewater, streets, aviation, and other community infrastructure projects, depending on current assignments.
