Project updates about the Okabena water tower project will be added here.

The contractor started construction on April 13th. The sanitary sewer is installed along Honeysuckle Ln. The contractor will begin construction of the sanitary sewer along Elevator Dr. this week.

Project Overview / Objectives

  • Construction for the City of Okabena’s Water Tower Rehabilitation Project began April 2026. The locations of construction activities associated with the project are shown on the map and the work to be completed consists of installation of a water tower mixer, interior and exterior structure modifications, removing and replacing interior and exterior coatings, and installation of electrical and controls. The work will occur during the summer of 2026.

Anticipated schedule

  • Aug 2025: Advertisement for Bid and Bid Opening (Contractor: Classic Protective Coatings)
  • April 2026: Start of construction
  • July 2026: Substantial Completion
  • Oct 2026: Final Completion

Funding for the City of Okabena projects is 41.3% grants:  $6.37M of $15.43M Total
