Airport Layout Plan
Appleton’s Airport Layout Plan (ALP) is in the final stages of approval by MnDOT Aeronautics. As part of the Appleton Municipal Airport planning process, Bollig helped the City identify its priorities and sketch out a 20-year plan to achieve its goals for maintenance and growth at AQP. Appleton’s unique circumstances and constraints were considered in the development of the ALP and the subsequent Capital Improvement Plan (CIP), which was structured at a pace that the City’s finances could sustain. This resulted in a roadmap for future funding acquisition and development that the City could support.
Airport Electrical Upgrades
Bollig worked with the City of Appleton and MnDOT Aeronautics to secure a grant to upgrade the entire airport’s electrical system, which had reached the end of its useful life. All airfield lighting will be replaced with new LED fixtures, with wiring laid in conduit underground. The electrical vault lighting control equipment will be replaced with state-of-the-art control systems to manage the new runway lighting. A new beacon will be installed and illuminated airfield signs will be provided. All upgrades will enhance the safety of operations for airport users and reduce operating and maintenance costs for the City of Appleton.
With thoughtful planning and smart investment, Appleton Municipal Airport is positioning itself for long-term success. These improvements not only enhance day-to-day operations and safety, but they also reflect the City’s commitment to supporting regional aviation needs and sustaining a vital community asset.
