Bollig Engineering partnered with Mead & Hunt on a project for the Brainerd Lakes Regional Airport (BRD), winning 2023 Project of the Year in the category of Commercial Service at the Minnesota Council of Airports (MCOA)! Even though Bollig played a small role in the project, we appreciate being acknowledged as part of the engineering team and the opportunity to contribute to the success of this important project.
Airport Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF) and Snow Removal Equipment (SRE) Facility
The Airport Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF) and Snow Removal Equipment (SRE) Facility involved creating a new building to house the two operational services into one building. The building houses and supports emergency fire, rescue, and medical response services along with snow removal equipment for the airport. It features many sustainable design elements, as well as technology that enhances safety and firefighting response times. This Airport Facility was also recognized for the Excellence in Construction Award from the Minnesota/North Dakota Associated Builders and Contractors!
Bollig Engineering’s Role in the Airport Project
Bollig Engineering’s role in the Brainerd Lakes Regional Airport (BRD) project included the civil site work, such as grading, dry ponds, associated storm sewer/storm drains, pavement and parking lot layout, fencing, erosion control, and turf establishment. We also worked closely with the Project Manager and Architect at Mead & Hunt to make sure vehicle movements could easily navigate outside as well as through the building and park properly using AutoTURN CAD software. Bollig Engineering worked with multiple engineers on details such as utility locations, generator and electrical transformer locations, roof storm drains, mechanical systems, door widths, automatic fence gate, and fencing to help ensure efficiency and quality through out the project.
Thank you, M&H and BRD
It was our pleasure to partner with Mead & Hunt on this important safety project and our honor to serve the Brainerd Lakes Regional Airport on their Airport Rescue and Firefighting and Snow Removal Equipment Facility. We look forward to future partnerships with them!
