Are you studying civil engineering or a related field in Minnesota, South Dakota, or North Dakota?

The Bollig Engineering Small Communities Scholarship supports college students who want to use civil engineering and related fields to strengthen small communities across Minnesota, North Dakota, and South Dakota. Bollig Engineering is committed to supporting future professionals who care about community infrastructure, practical problem-solving, and the long-term success of small cities and rural places.

Bollig Engineering is currently accepting scholarship applications. The deadline is December 1st, 2026.

Scholarship Eligibility & Selection Criteria

Applicants must:

Be currently enrolled as a college freshman, sophomore, junior, or senior at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university, community college or technical program
Live in Minnesota, North Dakota, or South Dakota, or attend a college or program located in one of those states
Be pursuing civil engineering or a related infrastructure-focused program
Be in good academic standing
Submit a complete application, resume, reference letter and unofficial transcript by the deadline

Engineering and related fields welcomed!

Students pursuing civil engineering or related fields are encouraged to apply.

Consideration will also be given to students enrolled in related programs such as environmental engineering, civil engineering technology, engineering technology, construction management, construction technology, water environmental technologies, water resources, wastewater technology, transportation, ag & biosystems engineering, land surveying, surveying technology, geomatics, GIS/geospatial technology, computer-aided drafting and design (CAD/CADD), civil engineering technician, and other similar infrastructure-focused fields.

Scholarship Awards

Bollig Engineering will award multiple scholarships in amounts up to $2000. The final award number and amount may vary based on the applicant pool and annual approval. Bollig Engineering will send the scholarship payment directly to the student.

Students may reapply in future years if they are not selected. Previous scholarship recipients are not eligible to receive a second award.

This is a community-impact based scholarship. Reviewers will consider:

Commitment to strengthening small communities
Community involvement, service, leadership, and demonstrated impact
Alignment with civil engineering or a related infrastructure-focused field
Work ethic, initiative, and practical problem-solving
Academic readiness

Applicants should be prepared to submit:

Completed application form
Unofficial transcript in PDF format
Reference letter
Resume in PDF format
App & PDF’s completed in one sitting
