Applications are now open for civil engineering-related scholarships, with awards of up to $2,000
WILLMAR, MN – Tuesday, September 15, 2026 – Bollig Engineering is accepting applications for its new Small Communities Scholarship, created to support college students preparing for careers that strengthen small cities and rural communities. Multiple scholarships will be awarded in amounts of up to $2,000. The final number and amount of awards may vary based on the applicant pool and annual approval. The scholarship is open to students pursuing civil engineering and related fields, including environmental engineering, construction management, land surveying, water resources, wastewater technology, transportation, GIS and geospatial technology, engineering technology, and other related fields.
“Small cities depend on skilled professionals who understand their needs and want to make a lasting impact,” said Brian Bollig, Principal Engineer and Founder of Bollig Engineering. “Through this scholarship, we hope to support students as they build careers that will help communities remain strong for generations to come.”
To be eligible for Bollig’s Small Communities Scholarship, eligible applicants must:
- Be enrolled as a college freshman, sophomore, junior, or senior at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university, community college, or technical program
- Live in Minnesota, North Dakota, or South Dakota, or attend a college or program in one of those states
- Be pursuing a degree in civil engineering or a related field
- Be in good academic standing
- Submit a completed application, resume, reference letter, and unofficial transcript
As part of its commitment to supporting future professionals, Bollig Engineering is also connecting with students at fall career fairs at the University of Minnesota Duluth, North Dakota State University, and South Dakota State University. Students attending these events are encouraged to visit the Bollig Engineering booth to learn more about the scholarship, internships, career opportunities, and the impact civil engineering can have in small communities.
Applications for the current scholarship round are being accepted through December 1, 2026. Bollig Engineering will announce future application opportunities and deadlines on its website.
